My artistic interest is centred around the interactions between artworks and their modes of presentation. I understand exhibitions as a medium with a specific media history and corresponding political implications. My sculptures often are sight specific or incorporate interfaces that allow them to be compatible with common contact points such as sockets, lamp holders or projector mounts. The easier their installation process becomes, the more they are rendered dependent on existing infrastructures.
Another core concern of my work is to shift the dominance of visuality within exhibition contexts. Sometimes I make use of glossy, slippery surfaces. With this I hope to arouse the viewers‘ desire to touch the objects. Other sculptures of mine possess an actual or implicit functionality in order to open up this boundary towards tactile comprehensibility.
In a similar way, I understand my activities in teaching as well as with Ruine München as an attempt to circumvent the limits of visual experience, be it through the performativity and discursiveness of language or through the development of experimental modes of presentation.
