Ruine München (since 2014 and 2017) is a collective that researches and writes about ruinous places. In proliferating texts, Ruine traces the networks of relationships emanating from the respective locations — the visible and invisible, grown and constructed, necessary and wanted, burdened, frightening and familiar connections that are all present at the same time. Ruine München invites additional Companions to participate in ephemeral artistic formats at each of these sites. A small edition is published for each event.

Ruine München are the artists Jan Erbelding, Maria VMier and Leo Heinik. In 2023, the series of events Ruine München Companions took place over several months at seven public locations as part of Public Art Munich. The collective Ruine München grew out of the siteless artist-run space of the same name, which set itself the task of giving a space to artistic formats that often only appear on the fringes of exhibition contexts. In 2021, Ruine was awarded the City of Munich’s award for galleries and artist-run spaces.
