Leo Heinik’s artistic practice involves sculpture, drawing, collage and publication. From time to time it also extends to forms of teaching, curation and organisation. His artistic interest lies in the interactions between artworks, their forms of presentation and their recipients. Leo Heinik’s sculptures often feature interfaces that make them compatible with infrastructural contact points such as electrical outlets or light sockets. Other works aim to open up the boundaries of prevailing visual exhibition cultures towards tactile experience by incorporating actual or implied functionalities or appealing to the visitors‘ desire to touch the objects. After studying art education, Leo Heinik was artistic director of Fahrender Raum (2020 – 2021), a project space primarily aimed at children and young people. He has been teaching in the Fine Arts/Sculpture department at AdBK Munich since 2021.
